Big Sky Blanket Club 2026: Making an American Heirloom
Description
For generations, crafty hands have turned humble fibers into symbols of comfort, strength, and belonging. In every blanket, there’s a story of weathered winters, steadfast hearts, and beauty made to endure.
The Big Sky Blanket Club 2026: Making an American Heirloom invites you to carry that spirit forward; to craft a modern heirloom that honors the resilience woven into our shared patchwork heritage.
Each stitch, a moment of care. Each square, a memory in the making.
Together, they become something lasting — a reflection of who we are and what endures.
Let your hands remember what history never forgets:
that creating beauty connects us through time and grounds us in what truly matters.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s in the box?
Each box includes two skeins of DK weight yarn sourced from Montana and Wyoming, a pattern, a thoughtfully curated treat that perfectly compliments each box, and special stories about quilting, the producers, and wool in the west. Every element is selected with care; a blend of beauty, utility, and story.
How many boxes will I get?
Your subscription includes six boxes, shipped every other month beginning in January 2026.
Will my card be charged automatically?
If you choose Pay-as-You-Go, your card will be automatically charged on the day you join, and again before each shipment following the first box. If you choose Prepaid, you’ll be charged once for the full amount when you join. Both options begin shipping in January 2026.
Can I crochet the blanket?
Yes! A crochet version will be available, designed to mirror the knitted blanket’s look and feel. Because crochet uses more yarn, the finished size will be slightly smaller, but equally beautiful.
I’m a beginner. Will I be able to make this blanket?
Absolutely. If you know how to knit and purl if you’re a knitter, or single and double crochet if you’re a crocheter, you’re ready to begin! You’ll learn new techniques along the way, with video tutorials and guidance from our team. And remember — you’re never alone. We’re just an email away for help, encouragement, or a cheer.
What’s the size of the finished blanket?
- Knitted version: Approximately 45” × 60”
- Crocheted version: Approximately 38” × 50”
Both are perfect for cozying up, displaying, or passing down as an heirloom.
Will the blanket be machine washable?
Our yarns are minimally processed to preserve their natural character and integrity. This means they are not machine washable. We recommend gentle handwashing and air drying. With care and time, your blanket will soften, strengthen, and become a true heirloom, the kind that’s loved for generations.
Can I choose my colors or preview the design?
Part of the joy is in the surprise. Each year’s theme and palette are revealed box by box. The name Making an American Heirloom and the colors in our logo offer clues, but the full story unfolds as you craft.
Can I cancel or make changes to my subscription?
Because we custom-order yarn directly from our partner producers, subscriptions are non-cancellable once purchased*. However, you’ll be able to update your shipping address, payment method, or delivery details anytime through your customer portal. And as always, reach out to us via email contact@stixyarn.com or phone (406) 556-5786 if you need some help.
Can I participate from outside the U.S.?
At this time, the Big Sky Blanket Club is available to customers in the United States only.
Can I give the subscription as a gift?
You can! Stay tuned for details on how to gift it.
How do I access instructions and media for each box?
Every box includes a QR code that links to exclusive digital content: patterns, tutorials, and stories about the yarn producers and the inspiration behind the design.
I’m not a knitter or crocheter, but love this idea. Can I still participate?
We’re working on something special for admirers of handmade tradition — stay tuned for details on how you can join the journey in a different way. Follow us on Instagram @stixyarn for updates.
