Six boxes. Six Montana destinations. One mystery blanket, knit or crocheted from the center out.

Our fourth annual Big Sky Blanket Club is a year-long knit or crochet blanket subscription. Every other month starting January 2027, you'll receive Montana-dyed yarn, the next section of an exclusive pattern by Tracy Pipinich, a few souvenirs from the road, and a new episode of a members-only video series following Cameron and Tracy across Montana.

Pack your project bags. We're going on a road trip.

Cameron and Tracy set out to visit six of the places we love most in Montana. They filmed everything themselves: the long miles, the big skies, the scenery out the window.

At every stop, Tracy was looking closely: at rock, water, bark, sky. Back in her studio, you'll watch her turn what she saw into stitches, sketching and swatching until each place becomes a texture, then telling Cameron the story behind it. That texture becomes the next section of your blanket.

Your blanket grows outward from the center, one destination at a time. We're not telling you where we're going, or what the blanket becomes when you get there. That's the roadtrip.

You don't have to come to Montana. We're bringing Montana to you.

Choose your blanket

Knit or crochet. Both versions follow the same design, inspired by the same textures and the same journey.

Natural or Colorful. Both follow the same pattern. The difference is how the blanket looks.

  • Natural. Undyed, locally produced yarn. Quiet, textural and subtle, at home almost anywhere. The textures do the talking.
  • Colorful. A palette for people who want something striking and unique. Joyful, dramatic, a statement piece. Where the colors come from is part of the surprise.

Is this for me?

If you can knit and purl, or single and double crochet, you're ready. You'll learn new techniques along the way, with a video tutorial for each one and our team a call or email away. It's self-paced, so you can work as fast or as slowly as you like, even if you're still finishing last year's blanket.

Three years of trusting the journey

This is our fourth Big Sky Blanket Club. Every year, members start without knowing exactly what they're making, and every year they end up with something they treasure.

Enrollment

Enrollment is open October 31 – November 8, 2026. The first box ships in mid-January 2027.

Knit version - US6 (4.00mm) or US7 (4.50mm) 24" needle or size needed to obtain gauge

Crochet version - US G (4.0mm) or US 7 (4.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge

Schedule — Six boxes, shipped beginning in the second half of January, and then in the second half of March, May, July, September and November 2027.

FAQ

What's in each box? Two skeins of yarn from Montana dyers, the next section of Tracy's pattern (knit and crochet versions), a few souvenirs from the road, and access to that box's episode of our members-only road trip series.

How many boxes will I get, and when? Six boxes, shipped every other month starting in mid-January 2027.

Where are you going? That's the fun part. Each destination is revealed when its box arrives, along with the episode that takes you there.

Can I see the blanket before I join? Not yet. We can tell you it's a seamless blanket worked from the center out, with a new texture(s) from each destination. What it becomes is revealed as you go.

What's the difference between Natural and Colorful? Both follow the same pattern and have the same textures. Natural uses undyed, locally produced yarn for a quiet, textural blanket. Colorful uses a bold palette, inspired by a local landmark, for a striking statement piece.

Can I crochet the blanket? Yes! Choose Crochet when you enroll. It follows the same design as the knit version.

I'm a beginner. Can I make this? If you know how to knit and purl, or single and double crochet, you're ready. You'll learn new techniques along the way with video tutorials, and our team is always an email away for help, encouragement, or a cheer.

Do I have to finish my current blanket first? Not at all. The club is self-paced, and your first box won't arrive until mid-January. Plenty of members have more than one blanket going.

Will my card be charged automatically? With Pay as You Go, your card is charged when you join (this pays for the first box) and again before each shipment. With Prepaid, you're charged once for the full amount. Both start shipping in January 2027.

Can I cancel? Because we order yarn specially for each member, subscriptions can't be cancelled once purchased. You can update your address and payment details anytime in your customer portal, or contact us at support@stixyarn.com or (406) 556-5786.

How do I care for the finished blanket? Our yarns are minimally processed, so they're not machine washable. Hand wash and lay flat to dry, and your blanket will soften and grow stronger with time.

Can I give the Big Sky Blanket Club as a gift? Yes! When you enroll, check "This is a gift," add your recipient's name and email and an optional message, then enter their address as the shipping address at checkout. All six boxes ship straight to them, starting in mid-January 2027. We'll email you a printable gift certificate to wrap, and we'll welcome your recipient to the members' community, road trip episodes and video tutorials. We suggest Prepaid for gifts, so there are no further charges; with Pay as You Go, your card is charged before each box. Gift enrollment closes with regular enrollment on November 8.

Can I join from outside the U.S.? For now, the Big Sky Blanket Club ships within the United States only.
