Join us for our first-ever Zoom Knit-Along!
We will meet on Zoom to talk about and work on this easy-to-make and wear sweater. You can choose either the cardigan or pullover version (available as 2 separate patterns on Ravelry). Both versions call for worsted-weight yarn, and we highly recommend using Brooklyn Tweed Shelter. The rustic texture of the yarn compliments the garter ridges and comfortable fit of the sweater perfectly, and it is warm and wooly yet lightweight. What could be better?
Prerequisite skills: you must already know how to knit and purl, be comfortable knitting in the round, and have made at least one item from a written pattern (like a hat or mittens). This is an early-intermediate project.
What you will learn: short-row shaping, invisible increases, picking up stitches, knitting top-down, knitting bottom-up, fit-as-you-go.
Go to Ravelry to purchase your pattern, and then head back here to order your yarn. We have a great selection of Shelter in stock right now...there is a perfect color for everyone!
Homework: You need to have knitted and blocked your gauge swatch prior to beginning of class so that you are able to purchase the correct quantity and needle sizes to begin. We will send an email with detailed instructions on making your swatch upon registration; there is also a good tutorial on making a gauge swatch here.
Schedule: Thursdays Jan 21-Feb 18 from 6-7 pm, via Zoom.
The $20 fee for the knit-along covers all meeting times. Since this is our first virtual instruction event, we are limiting the number of students and have set the inaugural cost low. We appreciate the opportunity to learn this new teaching-with-technology skill with you while we share our knitting knowledge online!
